Conservative Jewish physicians who train as ritual circumcision practitioners (mohalim) emerge deeply transformed, with renewed religious commitment and eagerness to serve their communities. Through structured interviews with six physicians across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Tennessee who completed the Brit Kodesh training program, this research explored their motivations and experiences in taking on this sacred role. The week-long training at the Jewish Theological Seminary catalyzed profound personal and religious growth among participants, who responded to questions about their decision to become mohalim, their perceived role within Conservative Judaism, and brit milah's impact on their spiritual identity. Analysis of their testimonials revealed strengthened dedication to halakhic observance, increased enthusiasm for Torah study, and deeper appreciation for Jewish law's spiritual dimensions. These newly certified mohalim now serve as valuable community resources and champions of Conservative Jewish practice, committed to creating authentic brit milah experiences that meaningfully engage young families in Jewish life and tradition.
