Working under Rabbi Jacob Agus's chairmanship, Arnold Band and Rabbi Jack Riemer crafted a new rendering of this essential morning prayer for the Rabbinical Assembly and United Synagogue's forthcoming Daily Prayerbook. Their approach stripped away archaic language and artificial literary flourishes while carefully preserving the Hebrew original's rhythmic qualities and devotional power. The translation process focused on establishing direct spiritual connection between worshipper and divine presence—a fundamental aspect of Jewish prayer.
